VPN Virtual Private Network

VPN is a Virtual Private Network and establishes a protected network connection when using public networks. VPN encrypts your internet traffic and disguises your online identity by giving you another IP address. This makes it more difficult for third parties to track your activities online and steal your data.

Many people around the world are freaking out about their online privacy and rightfully so since, in 2017, the USA Senate voted to allow internet providers to share your private data with advertisers. While we recognise that it is very important to protect your privacy, it doesn’t mean that you should sign up to a VPN service and tunnel all your internet traffic through VPN servers.

WordPress REST API what is it?

The WordPress REST API is an interface that developers can use to access WordPress from outside the WordPress installation itself. You can access it using JavaScript, which means it can be used to create interactive websites and apps.

REST stands for Representational State Transfer and API stands for Application Programming Interface.

To put it more simply, an API is a set of code that allows one system to interact or “interface” with another. If you add a Google map to your WordPress website, you have to use the Google Maps API, which allows your WordPress website to interface with Google Maps.

WordPress already has multiple APIs, for things like plugins, settings and shortcodes. These can be used by plugin and theme developers to interact with the WordPress core to create shortcodes and add settings screens to the WordPress admin panel.

Google Chrome DNS over HTTPS

DoH protocol in Google Chrome

How can you enable support for the privacy-focused DNS-over-HTTPS or DoH protocol in Google Chrome using a command-line argument?

DoH works just like the original DNS protocol, meaning that its main purpose is to take a domain name, such as Codexing.Art, that a user types in a browser and send a query to a DNS server to learn the numerical IP address of the web server that hosts the website. But while the classic DNS protocol makes this request in plaintext, for everyone to see, DoH packages its DNS queries as encrypted HTTPS traffic.

Hello Dolly plugin

Hello Dolly plugin with only 2 files

A very basic and simple plugin is a single PHP file. The plugin PHP file just needs a Plugin Header, a couple of PHP functions and some hooks to attach your functions to it. Also, a readme.txt file would be nice to follow standards.

The Hello Dolly plugin is an example of such a plugin. Hello Dolly plugin is made with only 2 files, hello.php and readme.txt When activated you will randomly see a lyric from “Hello Dolly” in the upper right of your administration screen on every page.

In an Unrelated

We have almost nothing left,
no ground in common.
At best, a brand
or maybe a miniseries.

No campfire to gather around.
The big stories, peckish news
gets told in tweets,
gets old so quickly.

In place of one place
a billion tiny customized versions
appear targeted specifically
to your tastes.

You see only what you want to see.
Maybe you always did.

What is CSS and what does it do?

HTML is just a static and boring document container and CSS works with this markup language to make it look more appealing. CSS mostly works with HTML or XHTML. To make HTML-based webpages development more aesthetic, in 1996, W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) developed the Cascading Style Sheet or CSS. They thought that the presentation of the content should be powerful using layouts, colours and fonts and they were right!

What is HTML used for?

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It refers to the accepted system of tagging text files on webpages to create colour, graphics, hyperlinks and fonts.

HTML is the code that is used to structure a web page and its content. For example, content could be structured within a set of paragraphs, a list of bulleted points or using images and data tables.

In October of 2014, a massive update to this standardized system launched HTML5. What is HTML5?
